Frequently asked questions

Yes. Advero does not force you into a single role — your organization can list its own websites as inventory to sell while, at the same time, browsing and booking placements on other publishers' sites as an advertiser. Both roles share the same organization account, membership, and wallet, so there is no need to register twice or switch between separate logins. Most teams start on one side and add the other once they are comfortable with the flow: a publisher monetizing existing traffic might later book ads to promote their own product, or an advertiser with a popular blog might start selling their own banner space. Read the step-by-step flow for each role in the Publisher Guide and the Advertiser Guide.
Every advertiser tops up a wallet before booking a campaign, and Advero never deducts spend directly from that balance. Instead, the wallet keeps a ledger with two figures: an available balance you can still commit, and a held balance already reserved against a running campaign — the two always add up to your total balance. When you start a CPD or fixed-price campaign, the full required budget is held immediately; if your available balance is not enough, the campaign is blocked from starting and you are shown exactly how much more you need to deposit. As impressions and clicks are recorded, spend is drawn down from that hold, credited to platform revenue, and the publisher's share is credited to their own earnings. The full mechanics, including how deposits are verified before crediting your balance, are documented in Wallet & Billing.
Publishers can price each placement using cost-per-day (CPD), cost-per-click (CPC), or a fixed campaign rate, and can offer more than one of these on the same placement so advertisers can pick whichever fits their goal. CPD charges a fixed rate multiplied by the number of days booked, and reserves the full amount from the advertiser's wallet the moment the campaign starts — a good fit for predictable, guaranteed placements like a homepage takeover. CPC instead charges per click on the creative, with spend accumulating only as clicks are actually recorded, up to the reserved budget. A fixed campaign is a single flat price for the whole booking period regardless of traffic. See Pricing Models for the full breakdown of how each rate type is calculated and billed against the wallet.
Start by registering an organization and adding your website as a property — this becomes the parent record for every ad slot you create on that domain. Before it can go live, Advero requires you to verify that you actually control the domain, using either a DNS TXT record or an HTML meta tag published on your homepage; this prevents anyone from listing inventory on a site they do not own. Once verified, create a placement for each ad slot (homepage top banner, sidebar, article middle, and so on), specifying its size, position, and device targeting, then attach one or more pricing plans to it. As soon as a placement is priced, it appears in the public Inventory Marketplace and can be booked by any advertiser. The complete walkthrough, including where to embed the ad-serving script, is in the Publisher Guide.
Once a placement is booked and live, the property owner embeds Advero's lightweight ad-serving script on the page. Every time that script serves a creative, it records an impression against the running campaign and line item; if the visitor clicks through, a click is recorded the same way, tied back to that same impression for accurate attribution. These events flow straight into billing — a CPC campaign's wallet hold is drawn down per click, while a CPM-style calculation (planned for a later phase) would draw down per thousand impressions — and into the reporting dashboards available to both sides: advertisers see impressions, clicks, CTR, and remaining budget per campaign, while publishers see earnings broken down per property and placement. Because every event is logged individually rather than as a simple counter, historical data stays auditable. See Wallet & Billing for how tracked events turn into spend and earnings.
Phase 1 of Advero supports static image creatives only — JPG, PNG, or non-animated GIF — with HTML5 and video planned for a later phase. Each creative's pixel dimensions must match its placement's declared size exactly, so a 300×250 banner cannot be uploaded against a 728×90 placement; Advero validates this automatically at upload time, before the campaign is allowed to start. Keeping files under roughly 500 KB is recommended, since an oversized banner slows down the publisher's page it is served on and can hurt their site's performance and search ranking. Every creative also needs a destination click URL using HTTPS that points to a real, working page — a broken or misleading click URL can get a creative rejected under the platform's content policy. Full specifications, including how creative validation fits into the booking flow, are documented in Creative Specs & Approval.
